Lot description
Bielefeld, Gebr. Crüwell Spezialfabrik für Rauchtabak, [ca. 1954]
Chromolithogr., 38 x 23,8 cm, on cardboard with stand, monogrammed "HN" (edges somewhat rubbed, some sm. scratches, sm. hole at the bottom right due to the production). Good condition.
Standing sign for cut tobacco, depicting an alpine hunter. The legendary Crüwell Tabakhaus was founded in 1705 (Bielefeld, Westphalia), but the sign was printed with a typographical error showing the date “1783”. This is why the factory punched a hole to delete the last two digits.
