8 vol., 8vo. Text, 5 (of 6) vol.: iii/xxxiv-478-[1], [2]-lxiv-468-[4], [4]-cii-[2]-460, [2]-cxiii-[3]-431-[1], xxxii-504 pp. (vol. VI and half title of vol. I missing; some foxing, some ff. sl. toned in vol. I). - Plates, 3 vol.; 374 (of 377) pl. (pl. 40-41-42 in vol. II missing; some pl. or margins of pl. soiled, tear without loss in pl. CXI in vol. III).

Contemp. marbled calf, gilt orn. spines with raised bands, red edges (rubbed, lack of leather to front covers of vol. I & III of text, some joints splitting, lacks to some heads or tails).

First edition of the lessons taught by the French architect Blondel (1705-1774), Professor to the Academy of Architecture and contributor to the Encyclopédie. The vol. V and VI (missing here) were written by the engraver and architect Pierre Patte (1723-1814). Illustrated with 374 plates, some fold. or on double-page (incl. the 40bis in pt. III and 39bis in pt. IV).
