Lot description

Ca. 1680-1750

Drawing, pen and brown ink, grey wash, traces of black chalk, 46,7 x 20,4 cm, laid paper, unsigned (brown stain at lower edge, some foxing, large brown ink stain on verso, not affecting the image on recto, some folding lines at centre).

Under passe-partout.

A Baroque architectural drawing of a pilaster in the Corinthian order, probably for the central nave of a church, separating two bays. The lower section consists of a niche with a statue of a male figure, topped by a shell ornament. At the second level a bas-relief of trophies is separated by a balcony. Possibly by a French architect.
