1. Grenville, William, 1st Baron Grenville, to "Mgr l'archeveque d'Aix" (= de Boisgelin de Cucé). Dropmore, 24 July 1798. 3 pp. Lord Grenville, then Foreign Secretary, became Prime Minister in 1806.-- 2. Maitland, James, 8th Earl of Lauderdale, to "M. le Senateur Perregaux". Paris, 5 Sept. 1806. 1 p. "I received your letter inclosing mr Payne's Petition [...] I am afraid I shall not have it in my Power". Maitland, representative peer for Scotland in the House of Lords, was departed for France on August 1806, invested with full powers to conclude peace with Napoleon and Talleyrand.-- 3. Campbell, Alexander, 1st Baronet, to "General Marmont" (= A. Fr. Viesse de Marmont). 24 Jan. 1809. "I have great pleasure in forwarding to Your Excellency the corporal Your Excellency [...] released from Malta".-- 4. Beresford, William, 1st Viscount Beresford, to an unidentified correspondent. 23 Dec. 1834. He explains to his correspondent that he no longer has the title of Master-General of the Ordnance (since 1830) and has therefore transferred his mail to the right department.
