Contemp. marb. calf, gilt orn. spine with 6 raised bands (sm. repair at front right corner of vol. 1, sm. def. at head and tail).
The main work of Jean Mariette (1654-1742), print maker, collector and publisher in Paris. Mariette promoted the prevailing architecture of the late Baroque of the French nobility and royal courts of Louis XIV and Louis XV. This recomposed copy includes 271 (of 547) pl. from all four vol. of the first ed. They consist of ground plans and elevations of French palaces and domestic architecture.
