Coat of Arms of Mechelen.

Polychromed wood-carving, 48 x 26 x 5 cm (lower half of gryphons missing, helmet and probably dragon on top of heraldic shield missing, some traces of woodworm).

Mounted on square wooden board.

The official coat of arms of the Estate and County of Mechelen. The version with the griphons and helmet was used since the late 16th century.
Joined: Drawing of coat of arms Mechelen. Pen and black ink, watercolour, traces of pencil, 40 x 25 cm, brown paper (some sm. reats and creases). Possibly design drawing for relief carpentry.
