Bifolium (30 x 20,5 cm), on paper, in French, with a covered seal (sl. browned, 2 sm. holes).
John Joseph of Austria (1629-1679), illegitimate son of Philip IV of Spain, was the governor of the Spanish Low Countries from 1656 to 1659. He granted to Jean Butenaken and his associates free entrance and exit fees that are leased on the Meuse ("Moeuze"). Countersigned by [Charles] Verreycken, "audiencier" of the Privy Council. The name of the city to which the document is addressed is part. missing.
