Contemp. calf, blind tooling on spine with raised bands, red edges (wear, lack of skin repaired, wormholes, etc.).
First edition of the Dutch counterfeiting (1st orig. ed.: Paris, 1709) of this influential treatise on garden architecture and horticulture by the French author Dezallier d'Argenville (1680-1765). Complete with 32 folding plates depicting ground plans of gardens, pumps, fountains, cascades, porches, stairs, etc. Some woodcuts in text, title printed in red & black. Ref. Ganay 45. Prov. Dr. báró Döry Lajos (modern stamp). The main field of research of this Hungarian agronomist and professor (1904-1977) was agrotechnology and the rationalization of grass seed cultivation. His research was published in many books.
