Reprint in a smaller format of the French translation by De Groot (1st ed.: Leiden, 1750, 4to, 15 pl.) of the "Byzondere aenmerkingen over het aenleggen van pragtige en gemeene landhuyzen [...]" (1st ed., 1737), which has become a reference. Complete with 1 table and 16 engr. plates: plans of gardens, greenhouses, botanical figures. Son of economist Pieter De La Court (1618-1685) and Catharina Van der Voort, the author (1664-1739) was a a wealthy Leiden cloth merchant, art collector and connoisseur of gardening. He gives in this book all the secrets of gardens, vegetables (forced cultivation), orchards (and special fruits culture), vines and flowers but also manures and greenhouses (he author was the first to grow pineapples in the Netherlands).
