Contemp. vellum, blind rules and central orn. blind tool on covers, spine on 5 raised bands, red leather label, spr. edges. Very good fresh copy, mounted on stubs.
1st edition and complete copy: 138 engr. plates (n. 1-138) including title and allegorical dedication to Girolamo Cardinal Casanate. Beautiful album consisting of plates engraved by D. de Rossi and Pietro Santi Bartoli, with some plates by Giacomo Lauro already published in "Antiqua urbis splendor" in 1637. Picturing some allegorical or historical scenes, processions, costumes, ships, maps, etc. but especially devoted to ancient architecture with representations of temples, theatres and amphitheatres, basilicas, triumphal arches, baths, gardens, forums, etc. Large margined copy printed on good laid paper.
