Repr. of the 1st Hague ed. 1747 of a popular work by the French novelist Fieux de Mouhy (1702-1784). The “Man in the Iron Mask” was an unidentified French prisoner (held in captivity 1669-1703), often thought to be related to the Royal Family (i.e. Louis XIV). Titles printed in red and black.
