First edition. The author, A. Marbais (1823-1891), was an Artillery Major and then Colonel in the army of the Argentine Confederation, and a member of various societies. Illustrated with 1 large fold. map with border heightened (on tracing paper), and 19 lithographs, most on tinted background, showing the harbour of Asuncion, Las Siete Puntas, Palacio de López (palace of the government), Cerro de la Margarita, cacique (chief) of the Payaguá people, etc.
