4to: [44]-351-[1 bl.] pp. (pp. 11-16, 289-290 missing; some ff. toned, a few tiny wormholes in blank margin).

19th-c. gilt half calf, marbled paper on covers, gilt spine with 5 raised bands with morocco label, marbled endpapers (head def.). Good copy.

Most extensive ed. of a promotional history of Leiden University by J. Meursius (1579-1639). Engr. title, 8 engr. outside collation (lge fold. map + 7 double-page illustr. of the Siege of Leiden), and 58 engr.: 51 full-p. portraits, 1 full-p. ill. (Scaliger’s epitaph) and 6 half-p. ill. (i.a. "Hortus", "Theatrum Anatomicum", "Bibliotheca"), and a few sm. woodcut coin ill. Portraits of i.a. William of Orange, J. Dousa, B. Vulcanius, J. Lipsius, R. Dodonaeus, Fr. Raphelengius, J.J. Scaliger, Ph. Marnixius, C. Clusius, H. Grotius.
