6 drawings on 5 sheets, pencil, various sizes, vellum paper, signed in pencil or charcoal at lower right. (foxing, many tears, some laid down on cardb. mount).
An ensemble of figure sketches for genre scenes and religious paintings by the Dutch painter David Oyens (1842-1902). He shared a studio in Brussels with his brother Pieter, with whom he often collaborated. Major retrospectives of their work were held at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag in 2008, and at the Charlier Museum in Brussels in 2010.
