Contemp. limp vellum, spines titled in ink (a few sm. def.). Very nice set.
Beautiful and very rare complete set on large paper of a major work by the Italian scholar bishop Tomasini (1597-1654). It offers biographies and bibliographies of poets, writers, philosophers, physicians, lawyers and scientists connected with Padua University, i.a. Cardanus, Magini, Tycho Brahe, Fallopio, Tasso, and a small number of women scholars. Engraved frontispieces, 88 engraved portraits, 5 plates and 42 woodcuts (arms, emblems, coins etc.); the engraved portraits by Girolamo David (I) and J.F. Greutter (II).
