Lot description
Engraving, panorama, ca. 27,3 x 520 cm, folded into 4to size, with the explication leaf as paste down (some min. soiling, tear along first fold).
Kept in contemp. green cloth cardboard wrappers, blindst. and gilt-titled cover (sl. rubbed).
Rare large panorama published by the weekly French newspaper in Paris "L'Illustration" (1843-1944) founded by Édouard Charton and first issued on March 4, 1843. Showing the boulevards of Paris on the right bank (boulevard de la Madeleine, des Italiens, des Capucines, Montmartre, Poissonnière, Bonne-Nouvelle, Saint-Denis, Saint-Martin, du Temple, des Filles-du-Calvaire, et Beaumarchais) with the names of the transversal streets indicated at the bottom of each half-panorama and depicting the facades of theatres and monuments. The panorama is completed by a view of the Place de la Concorde at the beginning, and the Place de la Bastille at the end.
