Contemp. burgundy half morocco (rubbed, corners bumped), decor. paper on boards (some loss), richly gilt decor. spines with 5 raised bands, green leather title labels (some sm. def. at heads & tails), decor. endpapers (except vol. IV). Nice, uniformly bound set with uncut bottom and fore edges.
Complete, partly first edition of the major work of the Amsterdam moral poet and Amsterdam patron of the arts B. de Bosch (1709-1786), the mentor and advisor of young writers like Bilderdijk, Feith, Helmers and Nieuwland. Part I is a new title ed. of the 1742 orig. Engr. ill.: 2 allegorical front. signed "J. van Schley 1741" (vol. I) and "Vinkeles 1780" (vol. III), 4 large title vign. by P. Tanjé and R. Vinkeles, 2 dedic. vign., a nice portrait of the author by J. Houbraken after a painting by T. Regters and 7 part titles and 14 emblematic vign. in text by J. Folkema after Joannes de Bosch, the brother of the author (in vol. I & II).
