Lot description
8vo: [12]-35-38-42-162 pp. (some soiling towards the margins).
Contemp. sheep (corners rubbed), gilt orn. spine with 4 raised bands (joints starting to split, some def. at tail and bands), red leather title label (sl. def.), marbled endpapers.
Rather rare second edition in Dutch translated from the Latin (first 1646) by Jacob du Buisson (and reissue of the Middelburg edition, P. van Goetthem, 1671) of this work on the plague by the Dutch physician, anatomist and professor I. van Diemerbroeck (1609-1674). The work deals with the history of the plague which ravaged the city of Nijmegen in 1636-1637 and should be seen as a manual on plague control for doctors. Mark on title. Printed in Gothic type.
