Lot description
Drawing, pen and brown ink, with brown wash, 20 x 10 cm, laid paper, unsigned (sm. dampstain near woman's raised hand at upper edge, visible horizontal folding crease).
Under passe-partout, under gilt frame.
Nice drawing of the famous sculptural group by Giambologna (1529-1608) in the Loggia in Florence. The draughtsman most likely used the chiaroscuro woodcut by Andea Andreani (active 1580-1610), who made a series of prints after the sculpture in 1584 from three different points of view.
