(Hammersmith, printed and sold by William Morris at the Kelmscott Press, 14 March 1896 [issued 12 Nov. 1897])

Publisher's binding: half beige linen, blue paper on covers, front cover titled in black, flat spine (sl. soiling).

Illustrated with a frontispiece by Edward Burne-Jones (which was not printed until October 1897, eighteen months after the text was finished, cfr Tomkinson), and by W. Morris with large Gothic floral frames bordering the front., the first page of text and with initials. The Middle English romance from the early 15th century is edited by F.S. Ellis, after the edition printed by J.O. Haliwell from the Cambridge manuscript. Edition limited to 358 unnumbered copies (incl. 8 on vellum). Printed in Chaucer type in red & black. Kelmscott's mark at colophon.
