London, printed and published by Leonard and Virginia Woolf at the Hogarth Press, [15 April] 1925

8vo (some sl. spotting).

Publisher's binding: paper boards, covers illustrated in black by Eugene McCown (browned on edges, joints and spine rubbed). Uncut copy.

First edition. Edition limited to 420 unnumbered copies according Woolmer on Leonard and Virginia Woolf's hand-press. Copy on laid paper. "The Sussex ledger shows 263 copies sold by 30 August 1926 and out of print in 1931. Apparently Virginia Woolf chose the title for this poem" (Woolmer). The writer Nancy Cunard (1896-1965), political activist, devoted much of her life fighting racism and fascism. She was the muse of many 20th-century writers and artists, such as Aldous Huxley, Louis Aragon, Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce etc.
