Publisher's binding: half grey paper, green patterned paper with green and pink daisies on covers, gilt-stamped title on front cover, flat spine. Uncut copy.

First book printed in Brook types, the font created by Lucien Pissarro. Edition limited to 241 unnumbered copies (incl. 6 on vellum), of which 200 paper and 3 vellum were for sale, one of the 200 on Arches hand-made paper. Illustrated with 15 plates reprinted from previous books protected by tissue guards. Eragny's mark on last leaf. "Thomas Sturge Moore was the obvious and ideal choice to write about the Vale Type Series of Eragny books. He had studied under Ricketts, becoming one of the Vale inner circle, and had become a learned and gifted wood-engraver in his own-right. He became immediately friendly with Pissarro when the latter appeared at the Vale and contributed wood-engravings to both Vale and Eragny editions [...]" (cfr The gentle art...).
