Lot description
Pen and brown ink, with gouache on thin wove paper, 22,5 x 11,5 cm.
Under passe-partout.
A bearded man playing a string instrument and wearing a turban. The instrument is probably a Sarangi, a bowed, short-necked string instrument from the Indian subcontinent, which is used in Hindustani classical music. The repertoire of sarangi players is traditionally very closely related to vocal music.
