Red morocco signed Weckesser et ses fils: boards with double gilt border, central gilt coat of arms with floral orn. at sides, within triple gilt frame with dotted orn. corner pieces, gilt orn. spine with 5 raised bands, gilt dotted sides, gilt orn. inside dentelles, marbled endpapers, slipcase. Mint copy.

Beautiful edition of Shakespeare's narrative poem, following the text of the first edition of 1593. Title vign. and 8 wood engravings in text. Edition limited to 275 copies on laid paper (n. 220). In the 1920s, Robert Ashwin Maynard (1888-1966) and Horace Walter Bray, both wood engravers, worked together at the Gregynog Press in Wales before founding their own Raven Press in Harrow, Middlesex, in the year 1931.
