First French edition translated from the fifth German ed. by the physician and professor of anatomy Pierre-François Briot (1773-1826) of this work on obstetrics by one of the most famous disciples of Levret and most distinguished German man-midwife G.W. Stein (1737-1803). Ill. with 24 engr. pl. by Allais. The work consists of two parts: "Théorique" and "Pratique" all together describing 1600 points in detail covering all the aspects of giving birth. The work is completed by "Dissertation sur la maladie des femmes à la suite des couches, connue sous le nom de fièvre puerpérale" by Charles Gasc (1780-1848), first publ. in 1802.
