Contemp. vellum (somewhat wrinkled and with sm. def.), flat spine.
Later ed. (first 1596) of this work which was the first Italian book on obstetrics by the Italian Dominican and physician Mercurio (1550-1616). Ill. with 32 woodcuts in-text. "It is a work of importance for the study of the history of Caesarean section; in it Mercurio advocated the Caesarean operation in cases of contracted pelvis" (Garrison & Morton).
