Winner of the Pahlevan of Iran, an annual Pahlevani Wrestling competition held in Iran in which athletes from across the country compete. The winner of the competition earns the title of Pahlevan, an athletically and culturally prestigious title in Iran. The competition has ancient roots, but its modern form has been held only since 1944. Aqa Reza Akasbashi (1843-1884) was the first Iranian professional photographer who learned photography from the French photographer Francis Carlhian.
