Nuremberg, c. 1770-1775

Drawings, engraving and gouache, 26 x 21 cm, laid paper with watermark (Heawood 1841), signed (small tears at edges).

Three tromp-l'oeil drawings creating the illusion of a bulletin board with newspaper cuttings, prints, letters and playing cards. Winterschmidt (1755-1809) was one of the most succesful German producers of this rejuvenated genre at the end of the 18th century.
