C. 1763-1768

Drawing, black chalk, heightened with brown and grey wash, 25,3 x 34 cm, laid paper, signed in pencil at lower right corner "Jean Pillement".

Under passe-partout, under gilt orn. frame (not studied outside frame).

Romantic landscape by Pillement, who was known for his delicate landscapes in which he combined French Rococo traditions with influences from English, Dutch and Chinese landscape drawings.
