The Amsterdam art seller Jacques Le Moine de l’Espine, best known as author of "De Koophandel van Amsterdam" (P. Brunel, 1694), received the exclusive publishing rights for his copper plates of landscapes in 1684. It was his intention to include these in a larger opus.
