Antwerp, G. De Jode, 1585

4 engr., 19,5 x 28,5 cm (warm toned paper, wide margins).

Stuck by upper margin under passe-partout.

Complete series of 4 engr. from the Story of Solomon. 2nd edition with the first plate replaced by a new one -attributed to A. Collaert after J. Snellinck I- that shows Betsabe who receives a letter from David and that later was included in Claes Janszoon Visscher's "Theatrum biblicum". The other three by J. Sadeler I after M. van Cleve represent: David speaks to Uria, Uria is killed in the battle and David rebuked by Nathan. All were published in the "Thesaurus Sacrarum Historiarum veteris testamenti" by Gerard de Jode.
