Lot description
Etching and aquatint, 64 x 57 cm, signed and numbered (44/100) in pencil.
Stuck under passe-partout, glass and metal frame, not studied outside of frame.
An abstact composition by Jean Fautrier, French painter, illustrator, printmaker, and sculptor. He was one of the most important practitioners of Tachism. This print is a good example of his late abstract work of the 1950s and early 1960s in which he reduced the basic compositorial elements of perspective and colour to the bare essentials.
