Contemp. vellum, gilt coat of arms on cover, gilt orn. spine on 6 raised bands (sl. rubbed, corners sl. worn).
Exhaustive ecclesiastical chronicle by the British theologian Edward Simson (1578-1651) and redacted by the Dutch philologist Pierre Wesseling (1692-1764). It had become a popular prize book for the highest classes of Latin schools. This work was awarded in 1757 to Petrim Kaas who had ended second in his class in the Latin School of Rotterdam, as indicated on the "prize" (present).
