Cont. half calf with corners (bumped and rubbed), marbled paper on covers, gilt orn. spine on 5 raised bands (joints starting to split, sm. def. at head and tail), red leather title label. Good copy.
Rare first edition of this botanical work on shrubs and trees by J.C. Krauss (1759-1826), German prof. of medicine at Leiden. The work was orig. publ. in 21 instalments between 1802 and 1808, each containing 6 plates. Complete with an engr. title with hand-coloured vign. and 126 full-page hand-coloured copper engr. plates.
