Rare first Plantin edition of the Concordances of the Bible according to subject; one of the most elaborate and complete ever compiled, by the English Catholic priest and Cambridge theologian George Bullock (1521-1572), who left England for religious reasons and arrived in Antwerp in 1560. This work was published in the same format and at the same time as Plantin's polyglot Bible, which Plantin saw as complementary. "Bullocus must have finished the work in 1567 [...] It may be surmised that the author had difficulty in finding a typographer willing to embark on the gigantic enterprise that constituted the printing of the Oeconomia [...]. The printing lasted nearly three years" (Voet). Printed in 4 cols, in small roman type. Ref. Capuchins Enghien. - Ms. ex dono, stamp and erased stamp on title. - "JB Derie Pastor in Petit Roeulx" (entry on verso title).
