Very rare Antwerp ed. of a defense of priesthood against Luther’s "De abroganda missa", written by John Fisher (1459-1535), bishop of Rochester and Chancellor of Cambridge University. In 1535 he was executed by order of Henry VIII for refusing to accept the king as Supreme Head of the Church of England. He was canonised, with Thomas More, on 19 May 1935 by Pope Pius XI.
