Title and 12 engravings (of 23), c. 20,7 x 12,2 cm, laid paper with watermark (high crown), some signed, numb., Latin text (some sl. foxed, some edges trimmed on platemark, few sm. stains, sm. tear strengthened).
Mounted at upper edges.
Painters' portraits accompanied by Latin poems by Dominicus Lampsonius (c. 1536-1599). This crucial series in the history of the Netherlandish canon was published by the widow of Hieronymus Cock. Rare title and n. 2, 4-5, 8-10, 12-14, 16-17, 19, incl. Jan van Eyck, Rogier van der Weyden, Quinten Massijs, Lucas van Leyden, Pieter Coecke van Aelst, Pieter Bruegel, etc. 2nd ed. by Diericx with all texts engraved.
