Contemp. vellum, flat spine with black leather label, red marbled edges.
Very rare unique edition, dated c. 1540, 1544 or 1566 according to bibliographies, of this pastoral work in verse and prose in the imitation of Jacopo Sannazaro. The Canavese grammarian and poet San Martino, count di Vische (1494-1556), was a friend of Pietro Bembo and Alfonso d'Avalos d'Aquino, Marquis of Vasto. Large Giolito's device on title and a smaller one at colophon. Printed in italics, and with space-guide letters.
