Second, but 1st illustrated, edition (1st 1645), revised by his son Caspar, examining the history and mythology of the unicorn and a study on other one-horned animals. The Danish physician and theologian Bartholin (1616-1680) is mostly known for his discovery of the lymphatic system. Ill. with a nicely engraved front. by Romeyn de Hooghe, 1 folding pl. of the Golden Horn of Christian V of Denmark, 20 full-page in-text engr., depicting humans and animals (snakes, narwhals, dragons, …), incl. one of a rhinoceros after Dürer's famous engr. and some smaller in-text engr.
