2 vol., 4to: [6 incl. front. portrait]-xliv-510, [4]-viii-544 pp.; 28 pl., some quires on bluish paper (some light dampst. in bl. lower margins of 1st vol., occ. spotting throughout).

Contemp. marbled sheep, gilt-ruled boards, gilt-orn. flat spines (front joint of 1st vol. partly split, sm. losses on boards of 1st vol., some rubbing). Copy with large margins.

French translation by the scientists Langlès and Lamarck of the travel account by the Swedish botanist and explorer Thunberg (1743-1828). He travelled from the Netherlands along the Cape of Good Hope to Japan. Engr. ill.: front. portrait by D.
