Lot description
5 vol., 8vo (sl. browned, foxing on the 1st and last ff., some spotting, sm. marg. hole on the 1st pl.).
Contemp. brown calf, gilt-orn. spine with raised bands, a.e.g. (some rubbing, faded spines, upper turn-in cracked on vol. 2).
Ill. by F.E. Hulme with 200 chromolith. pl., and as much orn. initials and tailpieces in black. Hibberd (1825-1890) was one of the most popular and successful gardening writers of the Victorian era. Frederic Edward Hulme (1841-1909) was a teacher and amateur botanist mostly known for his publication "Familiar wild flowers".
