5 parts in 6 vol. + 1 vol., folio (text n.c.; min. marg. dampst. in 1st and 3rd vol., occ. spotting and toning).
Contemp. vellum, blind-stamped boards, gilt-orn. spines with raised bands (light soilings, corners sl. bumped).
Rare first edition of this standard Dutch history of the revolt against Spain, by P. Bor (1559-1635). He was notary in Haarlem and later bailiff-general of North-Holland. With 201 engr. plates: 5 titles, full-page map of the 17 Provinces, 1 full-page ill. of the statue of Alva, 26 portraits (of which 3 of the author in prelims) i.a. Albert & Isabella and 168 half-page ill. (esp. battle scenes and siege plans) with Latin caption in the plate. Woodcut ornament on title of 4th vol. and 1 woodcut ill. in 1st vol. Printed in roman and Gothic type.

Enriched with: a 7th vol. with supplements to later ed. It consists of "Byvoegsel van authentyke stukken [...]" [Amst., 1684], "Algemeene blad-wyser [...]" by A. van Poot [Amst., 1684] and "Register ofte Bladt-wyser [...]" [Amst., 1640] and 77 (of 80) engr. plates from the "enlarged and best edition" (1679-1684): 38 portraits (just 1 author's portrait instead of 4) and 39 double-page pl. bird's-eye views and battle scenes.
