Lot description

4to: [16] ff. (fore-edge title border partly torn off, a few stains or spots).

Sewn (sl. loosening). Good copy.

Extremely rare (2nd recorded copy?). Long Latin poem in praise of Westphalia and its towns (Münster, Osnabrück, Paderborn, Herford) by the Rostock theology student Varmeier, a son of the councillor of Philip Sigismund of Braunschweig-Lüneburg. It was publicly recited at Rostock University on 17 February 1616. Title within elaborate woodcut border. A few marginal annotations and numerous underlinings.
