Lot description
Folio: portr.-front.-100 pl. with facing text (portr. loosening from stub, some spotting, some dampst. mostly marginal).
Mod. half black cloth, embossed paper on covers, renewed endpapers (corners, covers and sides shaved).
Part I only with parallel text Latin-German of one of the earliest treaties on perspective in art and architecture (1st Latin-Italian ed. 1693-1700; 1st Latin-German ed. 1706-1709). Ill. with an author's portrait, a front., 2 unnumb. pl. (one figuring the "Ordines architecturae desumpti ex Palladio et Scamozzio") and 100 numbered technical plates. The Italian jesuit painter Pozzo (1642-1709) was famous for his perspective skills and for the frescoes of the dome of Saint Ignatius in Rome. Printed in 2 col., in Gothic and roman.
