Folio.
Publ. original Japanese thread sewn gold silk wr. decorated with a floral pattern, head and tail capped with the same silk, front cover titled. In a gilt cloth identically decorated folder titled, plastic toggles (sl. traces of use).
First edition of 24 prints in b/w and colour of Madame Chang Kai-Shek's paintings produced between 1971 and 1974 and never published for most of them. Captions in Chinese, postcript in Chinese and English. Song (1897-2003) together with her husband Chiang Kai-Shek played an important role in China politics of first half of 20th century. She represented Chiang's administration on the international stage and thanks to her 1943 speech in Washington and her ability to outmanoeuvre President Roosevelt and senior Republican Wendell Willkie, she secured billion dollars of American aid to support the Chinese Civil War effort. Mei ling Song was the first Chinese national and second woman to address both houses of the US Congress.
