Folio: [14 incl. engr. title]-315-[12] pp.; 95 (of 98) pl. (pl. of Rheinberg-1.2, Ams.-Nieuwe Kerk-1 and Amst.-Stadhuis/Waag-1 missing; map of Holland-4.2 printed without its left corner with coat of arms, very few spots).
Contemp. overl. vellum, flat spine (rebound; pastedowns and flyleaves renewed).
First Janssonius ed., son of Jan Jansz. who earlier published 3 oblong ed., with both text and plates nearly identical to the 1613 Blaeu ed. This rare ed. is rarely discussed in literature. Ill. with an engr. title (identical to the 1609 Claesz ed.), coat of arms of the 17 Provinces and 95 pl. picturing maps of the Netherlands, Brabant, etc. or city plans of Leuven, Brussels, Antwerp (4 views on buildings), Mechelen, Ghent, Ostend, Dunkerque, Lille, Douai, Mons, Namur, Liège, Luxemburg, etc., and Arnhem, Zaltbommel, Haarlem, Dordrecht, Amsterdam (2 views on buildings), Gouda, Hoorn, Gorinchem, The Hague, Middelburg, Zwolle, Groningen, etc. The plates were printed with the same copper plates used in the Blaeu ed. of 1613. Cancel pasted on engr. tile of the 1625 French ed.
