3 parts in 2 vol., 12mo: 257, 137-[1 bl.], 158-[2] pp.; 6 pl. (some foxing, marg. damp stains in vol. I, last quire of vol II sl. age-toned).
Contemp. mottled calf, gilt-orn. spines with raised bands, red edges (sl. scratching, sm. damp stains).
French translation of "Gedenkwaerdige Gesantschappen der Oost-Indische Maetschappy in't Vereenigde Nederland, aen de kaisaren van Japan" (1669) by the Dutch theologian and historian A. Montanus (1625-1683). This important work on Japan is based upon eyewitness accounts from the two missions dispatched there in 1649 and 1661 by the Dutch East India Company. The 3rd part of this ed. is devoted to the account of Japanese civil wars. Illustrated with 6 fold. plates.
