Contemp. marbled calf, gilt-orn. spines with raised bands, red edges (occ. sm traces of use).
First French translation by the physicist and naturalist Gottfried Sellius († 1767) of a voyage in search of the Northwest Passage (1st London, 1748). Illustrated with a fold. map and 10 fold. plates representing indigenous people, birds, everyday life scenes, etc. By the Irish explorator Ellis (1721-1806), governor of the colonies of Georgia and Nova Scotia.
