Lot description
Brass body, 11,6 x 9 cm, and body clamp, 8 cm, with magnetic compass mounted on top of instrument, signed "S[...]L" for "Société des Lunetiers" (sm. tr. of wear).
Original oak case.
The "Société des Lunetiers" had been created in 1849 through the cooperation of three instrument shops. This cylindrical equerre has the old logo featuring the letters S and L on either side of a candelabra, and is thus from an early date.
