2 parts in 1 vol., folio: [10]-289-[1 bl.], [2]-328-[2] pp.; 23 pl. (some spotting & browning, some minor staining or worming in bl. margin, sm. loss of paper in bl. part of title underlaid).
Contemp. calf, covers with gilt-ruled border frame, richly gilt spine with raised bands, red leather title label, red edges (sl. rubbed and stained).
First and only edition of this religious and topographical description of the Archbishopric of Mechelen (Mechelen, Leuven, Diest, Brussels, Aalst, etc.) by the Mechelen priest and historian C. Van Gestel (1658-1748). Engr. ill.: 1 fold. map of the Archbishopric of Mechelen, 3 fold. views of St Rumbold's Church, St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral and St Peter's Church at Leuven by J. Harrewijn, 9 portraits and 10 funeral monuments or inscriptions (4 double-page or folding and some signed by D. Coster), 1 sm. text ill. of coins, 2 title-vign. by D. Coster and 1 half-page coat of arms of the dedicatee Thomas Philipp.
